A science journalist and editor, Keith is the Editor and lead writer of Astronomy Now magazine, a position he has held since 2006 (with a hiatus between 2015–17). He was also the Editor of Astrobiology Magazine from 2017–19.
Besides Astronomy Now and Astrobiology Magazine, Keith has also contributed words to Centauri Dreams, Journal of the British Interplanetary Society, New Scientist, Physics World and its associated website physicsworld.com, Science Focus, Sky & Telescope and tor.com.
He has appeared on several podcasts, including Matt D’elia is Confused, Modern Wisdom, the Physics World podcast and Can’t Make This Up. He’s been on the radio a few times talking about all things astronomical, and appeared on the Channel 4 magazine show Sunday Brunch. Keith has also given the occasional public talk, the highlight being at the Royal Institution in London.
Keith is the author of The Contact Paradox: Challenging Our Assumptions in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, published by Bloomsbury Sigma in 2019 (with an audiobook available from Tantor Media).
He has also written a book for Icon Books’ Hot Science series, entitled Origins of the Universe: The Cosmic Microwave Background and the Search for Quantum Gravity, to be published later in 2020.
Keith holds a BSc in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Manchester (2002) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Publishing from the University of Plymouth (2005).
